Can anyone help me with my treadmill workout?

hey i wonder if anyone could help me ive been going to the gym and at the start i use the treadmill for 10 minutes on a 1% gradient and the speed is between 11.0 to 14.0. could anyone tell me if this is doing anything to the muscles and if so what type of running e.g 100m, 400m this would make you better at thank you.
